MI Consolidates its leadership in TV Category on Flipkart as Samsung loses significant Revenue Share

In this article, we explore the market share analysis for the Television category on Flipkart in the month of December.  The report shares insights on the growth of TV sales and the prominent players/brands on Flipkart. The data indicates a 9.3% percent growth from November 2021 in the sale of Televisions in India.

MI by Xiaomi cements its market leadership in December 2021 – Consumers today are looking for a premium video and audio experience with access to the maximum streaming platforms.  Xiaomi’s MI TV has the highest Volume Share (23.85%) in this category and the highest revenue share (21.3%). MI gained volume share from 17.85% in November to 23.85% in December.  One of the main reasons credited for the success of Mi smart TV is Patchwall. PatchWall has partnerships with OTT platforms like YouTube, Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, Prime Video, ZEE5, SonyLIV, Lionsgate Play, Sun NXT, Chaupal, Discovery+, Hoichoi, Jio Cinema, DocuBay, EpicOn, Eros Now, ABP Live, Republic Bharat, Hungama Play, Shemaroo Me, and ALTBalaji.

Mi also recorded the highest volume share (17.64%) as well as the third-highest revenue share (15.07%) for November 2021.

Volume and Revenue Share (Flipkart) – December 2021

Samsung saw a decline in Revenue share on Flipkart in the month of December in the TV market. For December Samsung has the second-highest Revenue share (11.2%) in the TV category on Flipkart. It has lost its leadership from a revenue share perspective seen in November wherein Samsung had the highest revenue share (16.20%) Europe’s leading consumer brand, Thomson has the second-highest volume share at 8.68% in December which is in line with its popularity even in November where it had the second-highest volume share (10.27%) followed by Samsung. Thomson TV comes with a fully supported ‘Google Assistant’ that gives the brand an edge over other competing brands in the category.

In terms of growth in the month of December, OnePlus, Vu and Realme witnessed the highest growth in percentage terms in the category on Flipkart while LG, Motorola, and Thomson were the top losers in terms of revenue share.

Speaking of specific models the most popular model for December on Flipkart has been VU Premium 139 cm (55 inches) Ultra HD (4k) led smart android TV. Vu Technologies was founded as a high-end electronics company in 2006 by Devita Saraf, who became its CEO and Design Head.

for 2021 is functional as it is ornamental and has one of the higher selling prices in top TVs on Flipkart.

Xiaomi’s MI horizon edition comes with a bezel-less design where the screen of the television expands over to the edges on the top, bottom, and both sides to give an immersive experience.

Sony Bravia has always been a popular product by the tech giant and has always been considered as a safe bet with great picture quality audio, and good color accuracy. The 80 cm (32 inches) HD-ready led smart TV is amongst the top 5 most selling products on Flipkart for December.
